Pioneers

Tom Francis and Jez Staples — The AutØbØts — emerged from Huddersfield in 2001 to become one of the most recognisable acts on the international breakbeat circuit.

Built on hard-hitting breaks, dubbed-out basslines and a raw industrial edge, they built a worldwide following through relentless touring and a string of heavyweight releases on their own Broke Records imprint.

At their peak between 2003 and 2008 — the MySpace era of breakbeat — they were fixtures on festival stages and club nights across the globe, sharing bills with the genre's biggest names.

Broke Records

Founded by The AutØbØts, Broke Records was the creative hub at the heart of the UK breakbeat scene throughout the mid-2000s. From BROKE001 in 2004 through to BROKE019 and beyond, every release was built with the same relentless energy as the live shows — raw, heavy, and uncompromising.

The label became a home for collaborations with some of the biggest names in the scene — Deep Impact, The Breakfastaz, Screwface, MC Navigator, and many more.
